This traditional Thanksgiving pie is a snap to make. Some recipes use corn syrup, but this recipe gets a whole new level of richness thanks to American maple syrup. With three types of vanilla, this aromatic pie is sure to please the whole family.
Step 1: Dough
Preheat the oven to 200°C.
Combine all of the dough ingredients in a mixing bowl. Bring together by hand until you have a smooth, even dough. Cover the bowl with a damp dishtowel and chill for 1 hour.
Step 2: Filling
Put about 30 pecan halves aside, and crush the rest.
In a mixing bowl, combine the eggs, maple syrup, butter, sugars, vanilla extract, and vanilla bean seeds. Add the crushed pecans and mix to combine.
Line a tart pan, and carefully line it with the dough.
Pour the filling into the dough, and arrange the reserved pecan halves over the top.
Bake 30 minutes in the preheated oven.
