A rondeau pan can be made from tin-lined copper, stainless steel, or aluminum. Its diameter can vary between 25 cm and 30 cm.

A rondeau pan is used in much the same way as a stewpot or deep skillet. It can be used to braise vegetables, sauté different ingredients, and cook marrons glacés, for example.
